Hiking in the Vanoise

from the refuge
From the Refuge des Barmettes, the trails of the Vanoise open up to you, offering a variety of landscapes: high-altitude lakes, wild valleys, panoramic passes, and iconic peaks. The routes start directly from the refuge, allowing hikers of all levels to fully enjoy the mountains, from short walks to more demanding routes. To ensure a successful hike, it is important to plan your route: check weather conditions, bring suitable equipment, and be aware of your ability level. Even on accessible trails, the mountains remain a demanding and ever-changing natural environment where caution and preparation are essential. For those seeking a safer and more enriching experience, it is possible to be accompanied by a guide. Local guides know the area perfectly, can adapt routes to the group’s level, and share their knowledge of the fauna, flora, and history of the Vanoise. For more information or to arrange a guided hike, you can contact the Pralognan Mountain Guides Office. They will help you choose the most suitable route and ensure a safe outing.
